Padrón Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro

Photo of the Padrón Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro cigar from Log post number 187

10 years of matrimony goes fast. But I've understood that since I was a kid. That's why I try to make the most out of every day. With my wife, that makes it relatively easy. I'm a lucky man.

Today the weather is almost identical to what we had on our wedding day. Sitting on the patio soaking up what might be the last real summer afternoon before fall takes over, and I couldn't have asked for a better reason to pull this one out of the humidor.

The Padrón Family Reserve No. 45 Maduro. My favorite brand. And this one sits at the very top of everything they make. Every leaf inside is aged five years minimum before it ever gets rolled. The Nicaraguan sun-grown maduro wrapper is dark, oily and almost looks too perfect to light. But you light it anyway and it rewards you immediately. Dark chocolate and espresso right out of the gate, then leather and cedar settle in underneath, and a natural sweetness that coats the whole palate and just stays there. The burn is ruler straight. The ash holds like it has something to prove. The finish is long, smooth and absolutely unforgettable.

Padrón has been my cigar since day one. Ten years of marriage, one perfect afternoon, and the best cigar I know how to buy. Some days line up exactly right. Today is one of them.
