Probably last bonfire of 2026 tonight.

Raíces Cubanas 1941

I don't know if I'm right, but as of today I'm calling it. Last summer day of 2026. I live in Michigan so I become an amateur weatherman this time of year, studying every forecast like the game is on the line, trying to squeeze every last drop out of the warm weather before it disappears for months. Today felt like a closing ceremony and I wanted to honor it properly.

The Raíces Cubanas 1941. Named for the birth year of Romay and Maria Endemaño, the founders of the Fábrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas factory in Danlí, Honduras. One of the most respected factories in the world. Alec Bradley, Illusione, Viaje — they have all made cigars inside these walls. The 1941 is the factory making its own statement with its own name on the band.

Honduran wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and a filler blend from both countries. It opens with white pepper and a smooth creaminess that feels like a latte with brown sugar on the cold draw before you even light it. Once lit the pepper settles down and reveals butter toffee, cedar and a creamy undertone that just rides along underneath everything. By the final third it transitions into wood, earth and a full bodied finish that lingers clean.

Summer deserved a proper sendoff. This was it.
